Kathleen Cuschieri

Law Clerk

Kathleen is a third-year law student at Empire College School of Law who recently graduated cum laude with her Master of Legal Studies degree and is on track to complete her Juris Doctor degree in May 2024. She has excelled in courses such as Evidence, Civil Procedure, and Advanced Legal Research and Writing. Kathleen participated in several legal clinics at Empire including the Disability Law Clinic and the Civil Law Self-Help Clinic, helping handle real cases on behalf of clients and their legal needs. In addition to her studies at Empire, Kathleen participated in the state-wide Environmental Negotiations Competition organized by the California Lawyers Association where her team secured third place. These combined experiences have honed her abilities to analyze complex legal issues, negotiate effectively, and draft persuasive legal documents. Kathleen is also certified as a Legal Clerk through the State Bar of California's Practical Training of Law Students (PTLS) program allowing her to provide legal services under the supervision of Noreen Evans.

Over the past five years, Kathleen cultivated a career in environmental consulting, with a focus on land use, environmental, and CEQA compliance. Kathleen holds a Master of Science degree in Environmental Management from the University of San Francisco and Bachelor of Science in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her interdisciplinary education provides her with a strong scientific foundation to comprehend and address the environmental aspects of legal matters.
